BATUTA

Batuta was first released in 1999. The goal was to produce an impressive wine and that is why the name Batuta (stands for the baton an orchestral conductor uses) was choosen.

The fruit comes from Quinta do Carril a north facing vineyard, with more than 70 years old near Quinta de Napoles. The wine is dark ruby in colour. In the nose it has aromas of red and black cherries. The aroma is powerful and persistent showing a elegant edge from the oak ageing. It shows flavours of herbs, plums, black cherries and brown spices. It has plenty of tannins to last a decade. Batuta was produced in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003.

DADO

It’s a blend of very good wines from Dγo (Quinta da Pellada) and Douro (Quinta do Carril) in a close collaboration of two winemakers: Alvaro Castro and Dirk Niepoort . The result is lovely, perfumed, raspberry fruit aromas, with richness and freshness on the palate. Tannins are firm, acidity bright, and there’s a creamy feel to the whole.

Dado was produced  in  2001, 2002 and 2003.

VERTENTE TINTO

Vertente was created in 2000 with the goal of showing a different approach in niepoort douro wines: more attainable while preserving the quality and character of Niepoort (the portuguese word Vertente means line or style). Vertente was sourced from vineyards at Quinta de Nαpoles and from old vineyards in the Pinhγo Valley.
2003 is the fourth year of Vertente production, and the wine now shows a defined personality, clearly detached from Redoma or Batuta. Vertente is not only very pleasant to drink but also dense and complex. A versatile wine to go along with any meal…
