The first Niepoort “Quinado” was launched in the 1950s. It was a wine based on Tawny Ports to which quinine was added before it was shipped to overseas territories where it was used it as a malaria remedy.
- Vinification
This wine represents the return of the ancient Niepoort tradition of making Quinado. We used a small quantity of Quinado from the 1950’s and 1970’s that we found in our Serpa Pinto warehouse, to give an increased concentration and character to our current younger and fresher Quinado.
- Tasting Notes
It offers a unique flavour and should be enjoyed with plenty of ice, pure, with tonic water, sparkling water or with slices of fruit.
